Indian community welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he arrived at a hotel in Glasgow with the sounds of 'Modi Hai Bharat Ka Gehna' and cheerings. Mr Modi is in the UK for two days to attend the COP26 climate summit and undertake bilateral talks with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
When Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Glasgow from the G20 Summit in Italy, he was greeted by the sounds of Scottish bagpipes, followed by chanting of 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai'
by members of the Indian community.
Mr Modi also interacted with a child from the Indian community who was present in the hotel.
The prime minister took to Twitter upon his arrival in the city. "Landed in Glasgow. Will be joining the COP26 Summit, where I look forward to working with other world leaders on
mitigating climate change and articulating India’s efforts in this regard."
The United Kingdom is hosting the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) in collaboration with Italy. The summit kicked up on October 31 and will conclude on November
12.
The World Leaders' Summit (WLS), the high-level part of COP26, will occur on November 1st and 2nd. At the summit, more than 120 countries will be represented.
Modi will attend a special VVIP event at Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, one of Scotland's most popular visitor destinations, among more than 120 Heads of Government and Heads
of State.

Members of the royal family will also attend the reception, including Prince Charles and wife Camilla, and Prince William and wife Kate Middleton.
Key events of PM Modi's UK tour
On Monday, the Prime Minister will kick off the UK part of his European tour with a meeting with community leaders and Indologists from Scotland.
Following that, he will address the WLS (World Leaders' Summit ) plenary session at the 26th Conference of Parties (COP26) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change
(UNFCCC), which will be held at the Scottish Event Campus (SEC) in Glasgow.
After today's inaugural ceremony, Prime Minister Modi is expected to hold bilateral talks with his British counterpart Boris Johnson. The summit, according to Johnson, will be
the "world's moment of truth."
"Both governments remain committed to fulfilling the Roadmap within the timeframes specified. Accordingly, we are looking to launch negotiations in November 2021 for an Interim Agreement to be signed in March 2022 and eventually a comprehensive agreement, if all goes according to schedule, by November 2022," stated Gaitri Issar Kumar, India's High Commissioner to the UK.
