Indian Hockey Team on Thursday settled for bronze after defeating Spain in the Paris Olympics 2024. The Indian men’s hockey team locked horns with Spain in the Paris 2024 Olympics hockey bronze medal match at the Yves-du-Manoir Stadium in Colombes on Thursday. INDvsESP Hockey Bronze medal match went underway at 5:30 pm IST and both India and Spain displayed aggressive gameplay in the first half. While in the quarter Spain scored a goal in penalty, India's skipper Harmanpreet Singh leveled the score moments before the end of the first half i.e. second quarter. Thereafter, in the second half, skipper Harmanpreet Singh scored another goal in the penalty corner. Following this, Spain continuously tried to breach the Indian defense but P Sreejesh and other players remained determined to win bronze for India. Ultimately, Indian Hockey Team won bronze at Paris Olympics 2024 by defeating Spain by 2-1.
It means India secured its 13th Olympic hockey medal and their fourth bronze, adding to their legacy as one of the sport's most successful nations. Despite the setbacks, including the semifinal loss, the team remained hopeful to channel their experience from Tokyo 2020, where they rebounded from a semifinal defeat to clinch bronze against Germany.
It means it is India's fourth bronze medal at the Paris Olympics. The first bronze was won by Manu Bhaker in women's pistol shooting, the second by Bhaker & Sarabjot Singh in mixed pistol shooting, and the third was in a shooting event.
