Canada's politics has been left into turmoil after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau tendered his resignation from the top post. Justin Trudeau's anti-India stance backfired him and he lost the faith of his party leaders. Not only this, but Donald Trump's comeback to power in the United States also put his stand at loggerheads with the US. In fact, US President Trump has repeatedly called Justin Trudeau 'Governor Trudeau' and has expressed to make Canada as USA's 51st state as the country cannot survive without the US' financial help. In the meanwhile, Indian-origin Ruby Dalla has been disqualified from the race of candidates who may replace Justin Trudeau as the New Prime Minister of Canada.
Ruby Dalla on Friday took to her X handle and shared that she has been informed that she is out of the leadership race of the Liberal Party of Canada. (Ruby Dalla Disqualification Reason) Dalla further stated that she has been disqualified due to 'false and completely fabricated' allegations against her by the Liberal Party of Canada.
Ruby Dalla wrote, "I have just been informed by the Liberal Party of Canada that I have been disqualified from the leadership race. This decision is both shocking and deeply disappointing, especially since it was leaked to the media.
The accusations the party is using against me are false and completely fabricated. The tactics being used to oust me from this race only confirm what we already knew: our message was resonating, we were winning, and the establishment felt threatened.
One day it was foreign interference, the next day it was campaign violations — all in an effort to prevent me from debating Carney and winning.
I will continue to defend Canadians and fight for Canada."
For those who are unaware, Canadian media CBC in an alleged media leak accused Ruby Dalla of helping Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Bharatiya Janata Party in state legislature elections in 2017'. Thereafter, Globe and Mail alleged interference by India's Modi Government in Dalla's Canadian election campaign. The Canadian media outlined "possible foreign interference in her leadership campaign from the Indian government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi."
In response, Dalla posted on X, "In my campaign, there have been thousands of volunteers from all over Canada who have wanted to be a part of history, of having the first woman of colour as Canada’s next Prime Minister and Leader of the Liberal Party. I will not allow my campaign to be tarred with baseless allegations of foreign interference because of my Indian heritage and being the daughter of an immigrant. These types of comments are a direct attack on all immigrants, which I will not allow."
For those who are unaware, Ruby Dhalla is a former MP who represented Brampton-Springdale from 2004 to 2011. Dhalla was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, to Nepali-speaking immigrant parents from Punjab. Interestingly, just like Trump, Dalla had advocated for deportation of illegal immigrants living in Canada.
