He was born on December 24, 1997, in Panipat district, Haryana.Chopra has two sisters.

Neeraj Chopra is the first-ever Indian to win an Olympictrack and field medal. He won the gold medal at Tokyo Olympics 2020.

He was ranked second internationally by World Athletics in August 2021.

Chopra is an army man. He joined the Indian Army as a junior commissionedofficer (JCO) in 2016. He joined the list along with Milkha Singh andRajyavardhan Rathore becoming the army man who contributes to the sports field andmade his country proud.

He was the first field and track athlete from India to win atIAAF World U20 Championships in 2016. In the Championship he set the under20world record with an 86.48m throw.
