Dayanand Ayurvedic College established since 1898 is India’s oldest Ayurvedic College to start institutional study in Ayurveda. It has produced thousands of graduates who are serving the ailing humanity in India & abroad.
Principal Dr. Sanjeev Sood told that as per guidelines of Ministry of AYUSH Centre Council of Indian Medicine conceived a 15 days Induction Programme for First Year students admitted in 2020-2021 for the quick know how of Ayurveda System of Medicine. NEET qualified students from Guru Ravidas Ayurved University, Hoshiarpur who were admitted in Dayanand Ayurvedic College, Jalandhar which is among top five Ayurvedic Colleges of India.
In this Programme special lectures on various topics like Uniqueness of Ayurveda compared to other system of Medicines, Ayurveda and Covid-19, Impact of Physician in Society, Role of Ayurveda in Public Health and Primary Health Centers, Status of Ayurveda and Future Avenues for new students ,Traditional Food & Ayurveda, Bio Medical Waste Management, Stress Management, Communicative English, Use of Herbs in Veterinary Sciences etc.

Apart from college faculty external speakers from various fields like Dr. Rakesh Sharma, Dean Academics, Guru Ravidas Ayurvedic University, Hoshiarpur spoke about Qualities of Good Doctor & Herbal Management of various disease, Dr. Ish Sharma, Controller of Examination spoke about Importance of Nadi Pariksha and abroad avenues for Ayurveda Physician, Dr. Jeevan Asha, Associate Professor, DAV College, Jalandhar spoke about Importance of Sanskrit, Dr. Meenu Talwar, Head Department of Sanskrit gave informative lecture on Sanskrit, Dr. Meenakshi Syal, Coordinator Collegiate school at Hans Raj Mahila Mahavidyalya Jalandhar spoke about Comprehend the learning pedagogy and role of learning skills Mr. Liakatbir Singh, Executive Director from PAHAL NGO, Jalandhar spoke about Bio Medical Waste Management, Dr. Umesh Sapra, Assistant Professor from Chaudhary Bhram Prakash Ayurvedic Sansthan New Delhi, spoke about Basic Principles of Ayurveda, Dr. Harvinder Pal Singh from Pal Nursing Home, Jalandhar Cantt spoke about Stress and its Management, Dr. Joginder, District Ayurveda Officer and Ayurveda Medical Officers Dr. Chetan Mehta, Dr. Hemant Malhotra, Dr. Manu Hallan gave their informative lectures to the budding Doctors.
At the end on 30th March, 2021 Dr. Sanjeev Sood, Principal thanked first year faculty members. Dr. Amandeep Kaur, Dr. Vibhu Khanna, Dr. Smita Kumari, Dr. Rita Upadhaya & all the experts and staff for the successful completion of the event and gave certificates to all the participants.
This program is as per guidlines of central government to make aware new admissions in Ayurvedic colleges throughout India to know Ayurveda Sankrit and first hand information about Ayurveda. As students are from science background they have no knowledge about Ayurveda ,sanskrit and yoga so to give them knowledge in 15 days this program is initiated by AYUSH ministry.
