New Delhi: The fifth International Yoga Day was celebrated across the globe on Friday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the nation in celebrating yoga day from Ranchi in Jharkhand. 

Yoga Day has been celebrated in various parts of the world. International Day of Yoga was celebrated with great enthusiasm in Dhaka. The main function was held at Bangabandhu Stadium.

In Nepal, a large number of Yoga enthusiasts including Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli participated on the solemn occasion. In UAE, nearly 4000 yoga enthusiasts of various nationalities participated the yoga demonstrations at Abu Dhabi, reports said.

Yoga has become immensely popular in China as well. The major fitness discipline is specially promoted by the Chinese Ministry of Sports.
Hundreds of yoga enthusiasts participated in Yoga celebrations across China.

"Yoga brings thought and action together in harmony and helps promote spiritual and emotional well-being," the United Nations said in a tweet.

In Tel Aviv in Israel to a large number of Yoga enthusiasts performed Asanas to mark the International Day of Yoga at the picturesque Hatachana compound.
India's envoy to Israel Pavan Kapoor urged the Israeli authorities to consider making Yoga a part of the annual calendar of events.
