The world celebrates International Left Hander’s Day on August 13, every year. The day is observed to celebrate the speciality of the lefties, it is a special day for left-handers in the world of right-handers. According to the study, the world is dominated by the right-handers, around 89 per cent – 90 per cent of people in the world are right-handers.
For the first time, the day was celebrated in the year 1976 by Dean R Campbell.

International Left Hander’s Day: Why people are lefties?
There is no specific reason or theory behind being a left-hander. Some experts believe that left-hand dominance develops due to the genetic disorder whereas some believe that it is due to the mild damage in the brain at an early age.

1.) Creativity at its peak: Left-handers are high scorers when it comes to creativity, imagination, daydreaming and intuitions. They are also better in visualization and rhythms.
2.) Fast typists: According to a study, a left-hander can type up to 3,400 words as compared to the 450 words of a right-hander at the QWERTY keyboard, as 56% of the typing strokes on the QWERTY keyboard are done by the left hand.

3.) Strong recovery power: As per the experts, a left-hander recovers faster from a stroke as compared to the right-hander. It may be because left-handers use both sides of the brain.
4.) Problem-solving skill: Left-handers have efficient problem-solving skills and can find an appropriate solution for any kind of problem.
5.) Good in Sports: Left-handers enjoy sports, from tennis to boxing to swimming, left-handers dominate every sport.
