PM Internship Scheme: Government launches internship portal with over 80K opportunities, know how to register?

Indian Government has launched Prime Minister Internship Scheme, which has more than 80K opportunities, interns will be provided with stipend per month.

Prime Minister Internship Scheme was announced in the Union Budget 2024 by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. This scheme will provide internship opportunities to the youth of the country.

The ministry of corporate affairs shared a post about the PM Internship scheme on X. It reads, “PM Internship Scheme is a transformative initiative by the Hon'ble PM Shri Narendra Modi led government to ensure the skilling of our youth, which will enhance their employability. It will provide an opportunity to do an internship in the Top 500 companies in India for 12 months and learn from the best. There will be an allowance of Rs 5000/- per month and Rs 6000/- as a one-time grant.”

“The portal ensures efficient access to internships across sectors with Aadhaar-based registration and tools like bio-data generation. In the past week, the portal has added more than 80,000 opportunities across 24 sectors including Oil, Gas & Energy sector, Travel & Hospitality, Automotive, Banking and Financial Services, etc. All eligible candidates in the age group 21-24 are encouraged to apply at the earliest!” the post further mentioned.

PM Internship scheme eligibility criteria:

  • ·         The age of the intern should be between 21 and 24 years.
  • ·         The annual income of the intern’s family should not exceed Rs 8 lakh.
  • ·         Candidates should not be pursuing a formal degree course or working. However, these candidates can join online courses or vocational training.

In order to develop skills that will provide employment to the youth, the internship program’s guidelines clearly stated that the job of interns should be completely skill-based. Small jobs will not be included in this.

PM Internship scheme registration process:

  • ·         Visit the official website at pminternship.mca.gov.in.
  • ·         Scroll down on the homepage to find the registration option and click the link to access the registration page.
  • ·         Complete the registration form by entering your details, uploading the required documents and submit the form.

A unique feature of this internship program is that corporates can hire interns not only within their core business but also in their supply chain and their group companies. However, the certification of the internship must be provided by the main company of the group in order to maintain the credibility and uniformity of this program.
