Now all of Apple's iPhone models will retail for three to four percent less. This means that customers who buy Pro and Pro Max models can now save anywhere from ₹5100 to ₹6000. In more detail, the iPhone 13, 14, and 15 will see a price reduction of ₹300, and the iPhone SE will see a price reduction of ₹2300.
For the first time, Apple has lowered the price of its Pro models directly. Previously, Apple would stop producing Pro models and provide dealers and resellers with restricted discounts when new product generations were released. This approach caused the maximum retail price (MRP) of earlier Pro models to generally remain constant.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a price reduction on July 23 after announcing that the Union Budget 2024 would reduce the basic customs duty on mobile phones from 20 percent to 15 percent. Additionally, the budget reduced taxes on printed circuit board assemblies for cell phone chargers.
Currently, imported smartphones in India are subject to an 18% GST and a 22% customs duty, with a 10% surcharge on the basic duty. Post-budget, the total customs duty on imports will be 16.5% (15% basic plus 1.5% surcharge). Conversely, domestically manufactured phones are only subject to an 18% GST.
