The grand Indian Premier League 2021 has finally kicked off on April 9 in Chennai and the first match is being played between the Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Notably, the toss was won by Virat Kohli- led RCB, which decided to field first.
To bat first in the field, Rohit Sharma and Chris Lynn came out in the middle and the first over was thrown by Mohammed Siraj of RCB. The game started off a little well and Mumbai Indian was just able to achieve 5 runs against Siraj's bowling. Later, Kyle Jamieson threw the second over to the batsmen, and surprisingly, he did not give much chance to put bat to ball.
MI captain Rohit Sharma eventually came into form and hits a four followed by a six. However, Sharma could not make it large for the team and got run-out for 19 as Virat Kohli throws the ball to spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, who with ease knocked the stumps off when Sharma was striving to get a run.
Suryakumar Yadav then joined the field and faced Jamieson first. Yadav managed to hit the boundary in a go.
In the initial four overs, MI hit 53 runs as Chris Lynn and Suryakumar Yadav's pair kept the pace. The two batsmen have added 59 runs in mere 32 balls.
Unfortunately, Yadav could not stay for long as he was snapped by Kyle Jamieson at the 70-run stand. Ishan Kishan then joined the league at position 4. In the 13th over, Mumbai Indians utterly hit 100 and lifted the game. After a quick succession, Chris Lynn had to depart just a run short of a half-century. When Lynn tried to hit one to the mid-wicket area and the ball up in the air was caught by Washington Sundar.

To try his fate for the game, Hardik Pandya landed in the field to play along with Kishan nevertheless departed for mere 13 runs. For the last four overs, Kieron Pollard stood against Mohammed Siraj bowling. MI managed to attain 22 runs to the sharp bouncers bowling.
Thereafter Kishan was trapped in LBW and had to come out from the pitch for 28. Krunal Pandya then joined Pollard for big finish in the last two overs. In the third wicket for Harshal Patel, Pandya departs for 7 follwed by Pollard for 7 and Marco Jansen for 0. It hapened for the first tie when a bolwer took five wickets consecutively against Mumbai Indians in the IPL.
In the five overs, Mumbai Indians managed just 31 runs at the cost of 6 wickets by Harshal Patel.
Mumbai Indian finished their match at 159 for 9. RCB needs to beat the target of 160 runs to win the first match of IPL 2021.
