The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) got its new
Director after the high-powered selection committee has appointed IPS Subodh
Kumar Jaiswal.
IPS Jaiswal will extend his services as the CBI Director for a period of 2 years.
The newly appointed CBI chief Jaiswal belongs to 1985 batch IPS officer from Maharashtra cadre. He presently holds the position of the director-general of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
The appointment of the Director has come after a day Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting with the Chief Justice of India (CJI) NV Ramana and Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury to shortlist the names.

Pertinently, RK Shukla has retired as the CBI Director in February this year after serving his two-year term. Presently, the bureau is led by Additional Director Praveen Sinha, who will remain in charge until the latest appointment.
