Pakistan's envoy has been summoned by Iran in protest over a suicide attack in which 27 elite Revolutionary Guards have lost their lives in the Sistan Baluchistan, which straddles the border with Pakistan.
Iran "explicitly conveyed" to Rafat Masoud the Pakistan's ambassador to Iran on Sunday that Tehran expects Islamabad and its military "to make a serious and decisive action" against the Jaish al-Adl and its root inside its territory, said by the Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Ghasemi.
Pakistan was asked by the Foreign Ministry to take "immediate and necessary measures" to identify and arrest the attackers, who carried out Wednesday's bombing, which also left 13 Revolutionary Guard members injured, Ghasemi added.
Masoud took over her post as Pakistan's first female ambassador to Iran, in August last year. The diplomatic protest occurs when Ali Larijani, Iran's parliament speaker sternly said that the Pakistan government should be held responsible for the incident. Larijani said, "The Pakistan government should be accountable for this act which include group orchestrating and conducting the operation from their territory." He said that Pakistan "cannot act irresponsibly" further adding "such behaviour will severely damage the level of cooperation" between the neighbouring countries.
Hassan Rouhani, the President repeated his earlier threat to avenge the attack, without mentioning Pakistan and said that he "regrets" the "wrong policies" of Iran's neighbours.
