Indian National Congress has not made any official announcement yet about the CM face of Punjab. But, in a recent video, they have hinted that it could be possibly none other than Charanjit Singh Channi.
Congress tweeted a video in which actor Sonu Sood says the "real chief minister is the one who does not have to tell he is the chief ministerial candidate".
Sonu Sood said, “The real chief minister, the real king is the one who has to forcibly brought to the chair and who does not have to struggle for it and does not have to state that I am CM candidate, I deserve it. He should be such a backbencher, who is brought from behind and told that you deserve it. Such a chief minister can bring change in the country.”
Sonu Sood’s sister Malvika recently joined Congress party. She is a Congress candidate from Moga constituency. After that, Sonu Sood’s video came in support of Congress party.
The video clip also shows Channi taking part actively in various events. In the entire video, PPCC Navjot Singh Sidhu cannot be seen. The cricketer turned politician was also not a part of party campaign video.
Congress party is currently dealing with tussle between Channi and Navjot Singh Sidhu over the chief ministerial candidate for Punjab assembly polls to be held on Febraury 20. However, Navjot Singh Sidhu stated earlier, he is "not running for any post".
Channi was appointed as Punjab chief minister after Captain Amarinder Singh resigned from the post in September last year.
