Even Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the mysterious captain, has a superstitious side to him. Pragyan Ojha has revealed superstitious side of the former Indian cricketer and current Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain.
MS Dhoni, according to Ojha, would never wish any of his teammates "good luck" before a game. MS Dhoni stopped wishing the players "Good Luck" for a reason, according to Ojha.
The 34-year-old Ojha said that whenever Dhoni wished anyone luck, the outcome was always "very different." The left-arm spinner also said that Dhoni's decision to stop the practice was due to this.
Before a match, none of the players, including those from the opposition, go to Dhoni, according to Ojha.
“Once we had a conversation about people having different kinds of sentiments and that’s when he said he never wishes his players before a game. And before the game, none of the players from the opposition to go him. They don’t want any wishes from him,” concluded Ojha.
MS Dhoni has a habit of keeping the pens with which he signs the match ball to himself, according to cricketer-turned-commentator Deep Dasgupta.
A lot of other cricketers also follow superstitions. Virender Sehwag is used to singing songs in the crease to calm himself down, and Gautam Gambhir never takes his pads off before the innings is over.
