Hockey has been evolving for ages. Since civilizations this Ancient game of Hockey is present, and right from Arabs to Ethiopians, everyone has played the variations of this game. Some played for relaxation and others to become better warriors. As for India, the modern game, field game was introduced by the British Army regiments and people started admiring the game. In 1928, the Olympic debut was made in Amsterdam and India brought its first Olympic gold at that time but since 1984, the Indian Hockey team wasn’t able to make any success.
The current scenario at Olympics:
But now seems the time when the Indian hockey team is actually back and has recently defeated Argentina with 3-1. Before the fourth quarter, in the last 2 minutes, the third goal was made by Vivek Sagar in the 58th minute, and just in the next minute, the captain of the Indian hockey team made the 4th goal.
The Japanese hockey team:
Tomorrow is the last pool match which is between India and Japan. Japan’s hockey team is the weakest and they have already been defeated in three out of four matches. If India beats Japan they will then have 4 matches which will be won, and it is the first time this has happened since 1972. In the past, India won 5 matches out of 7 group matches. After 1984, the Indian team has never won more than 2 group stage matches.

After finishing the 2nd pool, the Indian players will have to play the last 8 matches against the Netherlands, Britain, or Germany (these players have won 2 out of 3-3 matches in Pool B). As stated above the Indian Hockey players' record has not been good against these players. The last medal was won by India in the 1980 Moscow Olympics and after that, there is no other record.
