The answer is a big yes. Dream is a true story directed by Lee Byeong-heon who was inspired to make the film after watching a documentary about the Homeless Football World Cup. Dream is based around real-life Homeless World Cup events. Dream is a comedy-drama but a true story which means it is unique as well. For those who don't know, the Homeless World Cup is an annual association football tournament organized by the Homeless World Cup Foundation, a social organization that advocates the end of homelessness through the sport of association football. The organization puts together an annual football tournament where teams of homeless people from various countries compete. The first annual football tournament for homeless people took place in 2003 in Graz, Austria.

Talking about the movie Dream, it revolves around Hong-dae, played by Park Se0-joon. The movie starts when Hong-dae meets Lee So-min (IU), who is an aspiring director assigned to shoot the documentary accompanying the team to the World Cup. The two set off on the wrong foot, only to realise their end goal from this tournament is the same. While Hong-dae wants to succeed in his mission, So-min wants to prove herself as a documentary filmmaker. For this, they team up together for unexpected events. The official synopsis of the movie says, "With hard work and dedication on lock, a group of homeless men train to compete in a global tournament — despite a cranky coach."
