To fulfill its purpose, Hamas has engaged in an armed battle with Israel. Hamas’s emblem depicts a Palestinian nation by combining Israel, Gaza and the West Bank with Jerusalem.

Hamas was founded in the 1980s. According to some claims, the Israeli government used to finance Hamas in its early days to build up a counterweight to the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) that was advocating for the independence of Palestine. However, Israel denies the claim.

The situation in Gaza Strip

Gaza is one of the most populated territories in the world bordering Israel and Egypt. A large part of Gaza’s population lives in poverty. It is ruled by an extremist group called Hamas. Hamas continuously attacks Israel from this Gaza Strip and uses the general public as a shield.
