In the latest development, a cross-firing took place between the gangsters and police in Jagraon of Ludhiana City. During the encounter, one gangster got arrested while the other fled from the scene. The encounter took place on the road from Gurusar to Chuharchak. A case has been registered against the gangster while the search operation for the other is still underway.
Reportedly, the incident took place on 26th January 2023 when the police were busy in Republic Day celebration. As per the information, a known businessman, a resident of Nehru Market for past several days was receiving a ransom call from the gangsters who earlier asked for Rs. 20 lakhs but then got convinced at Rs. 1.5 lakhs. The businessman informed rural police about the same and also gave them information about the place where he was called by the gangsters.
SSP Harjit Singh while giving information about the cross-firing stated that the gangsters called businessman on the Gurusar to Chuharchak road for ransom. He added that on receiving this information a team of police officials also reached the spot to arrest them. Seeing the team of police officials, gangsters started firing at them and during retaliatory firing, a bullet got hit at one of the gangsters named Jagtar Singh while the other somehow managed to flee away from the scene. While Jagtar Singh is currently under police custody, search operation for the second one is underway. The SSP has assured that the second gangster will also soon be arrested.
