Flights to Jaipur and Mumbai will soon get started from Adampur Civil Airport. The Airport Authority of India has also started the bidding process for these two routes from Adampur Airport. Renowned airline companies of the country have shown interest regarding this and Indigo Airlines has also expressed interest in operating flights on some routes from Adampur. Multiple senior officials of Indigo Airlines will also be present at this airport next week.
Most of the people of Jalandhar will benefit from this because of the presence of hand tool industry, education hub, sports hub. There is also a Siddha Shaktipeeth Shri Devi Talab Mandir in Jalandhar. Additionally, devotees from Mumbai and Jaipur will also be able to visit Himachal or other historical places including Maa Chintapurni Darbar.
The central government has built a new terminal at a cost of more than Rs 120 crore, which has connectivity with the Air Force runway for parking aircraft. A large parking area has been developed with two large conveyor belts. The Adampur-Delhi flight started for the first time on 1st May 2018.
The flight was stopped on 24th April 2021 due to Covid 19. After three years, flights from Adampur to Hindon, Sri Nanded Sahib and Bengaluru have been restarted from 31st March this year. In these 4 years from 2018 to 2021, the Delhi flight had a good response, in which 1.07 lakh people have travelled from Delhi-Adampur and more than 2700 people have travelled from Adampur-Mumbai. Before Corona, the flight to Jaipur ran for a few days and then was stopped during Covid.
