A day after Chief Minister Punjab, Capt Amarinder Singh in a press conference held at Chandigarh announced to extend the night curfew timings to 9pm to 5am in place of 11pm to 5am, in worst-affected nine districts of the state, the respective district administrations have started issuing orders related to restrictions and movements allowed during night curfew.
The district administration Jalandhar on Thursday issued the orders of increase in night curfew timings and instructed the Police officials to keep a strict vigil.
Meanwhile, on Friday morning, the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar issued fresh orders in which he exempted the medical services from the night curfew.
“The orders which were issued regarding night curfew in Jalandhar District on Thursday, will not be applicable on medical stores and hospitals”, reads the fresh orders issued today. He further said medical stores and hospitals can operate after 9pm to cater the medical needs of the residents.
The development came after CM Capt Amarinder announced strict night curfew in the districts of Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Patiala, Mohali, Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala and Ropar. All these districts are reporting more than 100 cases daily.
Jalandhar on Thursday reported 510 cases, while the Punjab’s daily cases shot up to 2300 cases with over 30 deaths on Thursday.
In addition, the Chief Minister also said the Covid situation in the state was critical and he was going to be tough.
