Arushi Sharma, a native of Jalandhar, has successfully attained the 184th All India Rank in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) test. Recently, the team of TrueScoop News met her at her residence and interviewed her to learn her strategies and ideas behind the preparation for this Civil Service Examination.

At first, while highlighting her preparation strategy, she mentioned that “she had never used social media in her entire life” and dedicatedly studied for 8 to 12 hours a day. Replying to a question asked her about her strategy, Arushi Sharma mentioned, “I consistently studied for 8 to 12 hours in a day and gradually increased the hours to 12 to 16 hours as the exam approached.”

She furthermore stated, “Everyone must go with what your heart says as only you know what is good for you.”

It is worth noting that she gave all the credit to her parents, CA Aseem Sharma and Neetu Sharma, who, according to her, are the pillars of strength for her during this long journey of becoming an IPS officer. Arushi especially thanked her parents and asked people to congratulate them instead of her.

“I would like to give credit to all my family members but especially my parents - my mom and day, who were like pillars throughout this time,” she said, adding, “My sacrifices are nothing in front of theirs as I only used to study and they never made anything difficult for me.”

Arushi also stated, “I want everyone to congratulate them (her parents) instead of congratulating me.”

Surprisingly, she also stated that she used to think about giving up almost every day as many people with the same goal work harder than us, but she remained consistent and gained this milestone.

After becoming an IPS officer, changes she would like to make -

Arushi Sharma emphasized that she would work dedicatedly towards ‘women empowerment,’ as this is the field that requires special attention not just as an officer but also as a general citizen.

Another two key areas in which she would like to bring changes include ‘drug abuse’ and ‘suicide prevention.’

What did Arushi's parents say after she achieved this milestone?

While addressing this achievement, her parents said that they are extremely proud of their daughter, and she has finally cracked the Civil Service Examination of her dedication and hard work.

“We are really proud of our daughter. She has cleared the exam, and it is all because of her hard work, which she has done in the past 3-4 years, and we really feel proud,” Arushi’s parents, CA Aseem Sharma and Neetu Sharma, said.

Emphasizing the career choice, his father, who himself is a Chartered Accountant, said, “It was my dream that my kids opt for the same profession as me, but I never forced them, and maybe because of that, only, we proudly witnessed this day of pride.”

It is to be noted that Arushi Sharma studied in Delhi and has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with Honors.
