Further tightening the noose around the drug peddlers along with the law and order situation in the lockdown imposed to fight Covid-19 pandemic, The Commissionerate Police on Saturday busted another inter-state drug racket and arrested two drug paddlers besides seized 100-kg poppy husk.
The accused have been identified as Warandeep Singh (33) of New Santokhpura locality and Swaran Singh (45) of Singha village of Jalandhar.
Divulging the details, Commissioner of Police Mr Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said a team of CIA- Staff-1 had placed a Naka in Transport Nagar and the team got a tip-off that the occupants of a truck (PB06-Q-3286) had brought poppy husk from Jammu and truck was parked outside Lassi Dhaba.
Mr Bhullar told following which ACP North Mr Satinder Chadha was called on the spot and a search was carried out in the truck.
He added during the search in the truck, the cops found a special cavity created between the cabin and truck body and found the contraband packed in plastic bags there.
The Commissioner of Police said that accused were immediately arrested by cops and a case under sections 15, 61 and 85 of NDPS Act was registered against them at Police Station-8.

During preliminary interrogation, Mr Bhullar said accused Warandeep revealed he was earlier an auto driver and purchased the truck from Harminder Singh of Maqsoodan six months ago.
"Harminder was in Kapurthala jail in drug case now. Warandeep told that he along with Swaran had gone to Jammu for delivering cold drinks in the truck on May 22 and bought poppy husk from there at the amount of Rs 2 lakh", he disclosed. Mr Bhullar said that Warandeep had also been facing a drug case in the past when the cops arrested with the 10-kg poppy husk on June 14, 2018.
He said that the accused would be produced in the local courts and would be taken on remand for the detailed probe to know their links.
