Jalandhar Commissionerate Police led by Commissioner of Police Mr Swapan Sharma has arrested four accomplices of Harpreet Singh r/o America, who demanded a ransom of Rs 20 lakh, from a retired headmaster a few days ago.
Divulging the details, the Commissioner of Police said that Harsharan Singh, s/o Pyara Singh, resident of House No. 8 Urban Estate Jalandhar had complained that Harpreet Singh, a resident of Bhai Bannoji Nagar Khurla Kingra Jalandhar, who is currently living in America had demanded a ransom of 20 lakh rupees and threatening to kill him if he did not pay the money. He said that following it on midnight two unknown motorcycle riders pelted stones at his residence. Mr Swapan Sharma said that Fir No. 111 dated 02.10.2024 u/s 308(2), 351(2) BNS PS Division 7 was registered at Jalandhar.
The Commissioner of Police said that during investigation it came into light that via WhatsApp call Harpreet had demanded a ransom by sending photos of weapons, and sent 3 unknown youths to his house to pelt stones and threaten to kill him. He said that During the investigation, Karan Thapar, s/o Swaraj Thapar, r/o HNo. WN 869 Near Sarav Parkash Factory Bhagwan Valmik Mohalla Basti Danishmandan Jalandhar, and Jatin Sehdev @ Tattoo, s/o Sanjiv Kumar, r/o HNo. ES 192 Backside Lovely Sweets Mohalla Makhdoom Pura Jalandhar, were arrested in this case and a motorcycle Splendor PB08-DA-9161 Black Colour used in the incident was recovered from them. Mr Swapan Sharma said that during further investigation Manav @ Loha, s/o Deepak Kumar, r/o HNo. WD 249 Ali Mohalla Jalandhar, was nominated in the case whereas Police arrested Abhimanyu @ Manu, s/o Pawan Kumar, r/o HNo. 1 Near Dhobi Ghat Gujral Nagar Jalandhar, and Shivansh @ Shiva, s/o Subhash Kumar, r/o On Rent HNo. 124 Nizatam Nagar Near Sports Market Jalandhar, who were involved in the crime.
The Commissioner of Police said that Amanpreet Kaur, d/o Rashpal Singh, r/o Village Gehlran Jalandhar, now in America, was also nominated in the case. He said that further investigation into the case is going on and details if any will be shared later.
