significant breakthrough the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police led by Commissioner of Police Mr Swapan Sharma has arrested four persons including a PSO of Amritpal Singh for their involvement in smuggling of illegal arms, drugs, extortion and others.
Divulging the details, the Commissioner of Police said that the racket has been operative In the state and were planning a major action to foil law and order in the state. He said that the four persons have been identified as Lakhwinder Singh s/o Mohinder Singh, from Village Haibowal, PS Garhshankar, Hoshiarpur, Gurbhej Singh s/o Balbir Singh, from Village Gudara, PS Bajakhana, Ferozepur Satinder Singh (alias Kala), son of Hardev Singh, from Village Palahi, PS Mehtiana, Hoshiarpur and Bharat (alias Bhau), son of Mukhtyar, from Ward No. Barar Mohalla, Patti, Tarntaran. Swapan Sharma said that Harshdeep Singh, who had been previously arrested, was well-acquainted with Lakhwinder Singh, a known drug dealer with multiple criminal cases against him.
The Commissioner of Police said that Lakhwinder Singh had been supplying drugs to Harshdeep Singh, who was also involved in the trade of illegal arms, which he obtained from Gurbhej Singh, a close associate of Amritpal Singh (of Waris Punjab De). He said that Gurbhej Singh had previously been in Kapurthala Jail in connection with the Amritpal case and the Ajnala police station attack case, where he met Lakhwinder Singh (alias Lakhi), who was already incarcerated for a murder case. Mr Swapan Sharma said that they subsequently began smuggling arms, ammunition, and drugs to various parts of the state adding that phone calls and messages between these individuals were discovered on their phones, indicating they were planning to execute a plot to target their rivals.
The Commissioner of Police said that FIR No. 253 dated 19-10-2024 u/s 25-54-59 Arms Act Added 21-61-85 NDPS Act PS New Baradari CP Jalandhar has been registered against the accused. He said that 10 Cartridges of 12bore, eight Cartridges of 315 bore and 100 grams of Heroin have been recovered from them. Mr Swapan Sharma said that further investigation in the case is going and details will be shared later.
