In a significant breakthrough, Jalandhar Commissionerate Police have successfully dismantled a drug trafficking network, seizing 1kg of heroin and arresting four individuals. The operation was conducted under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Swapan Sharma, as part of the city’s intensified campaign against narcotics.
Acting on a tip-off, a team from the CIA set up surveillance near Focal Point, where they apprehended a suspect, Karan alias Kana, from Rajpura, Kapurthala. During the search, 100 grams of heroin were recovered. The accused’s confession led to the arrest of three accomplices—Prem Singh from Ludhiana, Rohit alias Vickey from Gurdaspur, and Jabanpreet Singh alias Jagdeep Singh from Jalandhar.
Subsequent investigations and raids resulted in the recovery of an additional 900 grams of heroin and a Verna car (registration PB07-BF-0015). F.I.R. No. 225, initially registered under Sections 21, 61, and 85 of the NDPS Act, was amended to include Section 29 due to the involvement of multiple individuals.
The accused, some with prior drug-related offenses, were remanded to police custody by the court for further interrogation. Commissioner of Police Swapan Sharma assured that the police remain committed to eradicating drug networks and will leave no stone unturned in combating the menace of drug trafficking.
