The
Commissionerate Police on Friday solved the murder case of Sodal Road-based
financier Gurmeet Singh Tinku and arrested two of the accused involved in the
crime.
The arrested accused persons have been identified as Harpreet Singh alias Happy Mall of Icchewal village and Surinder Singh of Mamdot, Ferozepur district. The cops have also recovered a 0.32 bore pistol and three live cartridges.
Divulging the details, Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that Gurmeet Singh Tinku was running his business namely PVC finance in Preet Nagar, Sodal road and on March 6, Puneet Sharma of Aman Nagar and Narinder Sharda of New Gobind Nagar Jalandhar District along with unidentified accomplices attacked Tinku by pumping bullets and later fled away from the spot. He said that on basis of technical investigation, CCTV footages and human intelligence, the CIA and Police station-8 arrested two of the accused, involved in this case.
Bhullar said during the preliminary investigation, the accused told Gurmeet had attacked the house and ransacked the car of Puneet Sharma following which a case was registered against Gurmeet and others.
Commissioner of Police added that later due to this old grudge Puneet Sharma and Narinder Sharda hatched a conspiracy to eliminate Gurmeet and they took help from Happy Mall who was lodged in Patiala Jail. Both Puneet and Mall were known to each other as both had met in the jail.

Commissioner of Police added that later, Mall arranged a meeting of Puneet and Sharda with Happy Bhullar (a PO in Kharad murder case), Jeeta of Khilchi, and Surinder Singh of Mamdot to execute the killing. He said according to the plot, all of the accused came here two days ahead of the crime and murdered Tinku on March 6.
Bhullar added that Harpreet and Surinder have been arrested following they were brought from Patiala and Ferozepur jails. Harpreet has been facing five criminal cases in various police stations of Punjab and seven cases are registered against Surinder Singh.
Both accused during the remand were quizzed thoroughly regarding the whereabouts of Puneet, Narinder, Jeeta, and Harpreet. He said police teams were behind to arrest the remaining accused and they would be behind bars soon.
