In a shocking incident in Punjab's Jalandhar district, robbers looted over Rs 16 lakhs from the Punjab National Bank (PNB) on Wednesday. According to reports, a gang of armed robbers
stormed into the PNB Green Model Town branch in broad daylight and took the big sum and CCTV DVR with them.
Police have started investigating the matter and have issued a red alert in the posh area after the big robbery. All roads have been sealed and CCTVs near the bank are being investigated.
According to sources, a gang of three armed robbers with their faces covered with masks barged into the PNB Green Model Town branch at around 9:30 am. As per the bank’s caretaker, another member of the gang remained
outside the PNB to monitor the situation.
When the cashier was busy getting the cash counter ready for the day's business, the robbers threatened him with a dagger and fled the scene with over Rs 16 lakh (Rs 693,000 to be exact)
and CCTV footage. However, the bank staff maintains that the facility had some hidden cameras that robbers were unaware of. An expert team of police has been dispatched to examine the footage from these cameras.
