The people of Jalandhar already have been facing a lot of problems due to the condition of the roads. The residents of the city are very disappointed with the working of the Municipal Corporation and now it has given a new reason for the locals to be angered. Reportedly, Municipal Corporation has decided to break the roads on which around 15 crores rupees were spent. The reason cited for the same is the laying of wired 1248 CCTV cameras that will be installed in the whole of the city.
The fact that cannot be denied is till now many roads in Jalandhar like Kapurthala Road, Model Town Road, Ladowali Road have been broken for months and there seems no hope to see them constructed all over again. The problem of the locals is that not even half of the roads that were demolished have been constructed to date, then how can it be expected from the corporation to rebuild the roads again that will be deconstructed?
It has been 11 months that the people of Jalandhar are utilizing the unpaved roads. Before the elections, railway roads were broken by the corporation to lay pipes and to date, the roads that were dug remain in the same condition. No efforts have been made by the concerned authorities to get the roads renovated so that the problem is not faced by the people who have to travel on daily basis.
Now, the Corporation has once again decided to dig the roads so that they can make Jalandhar a Smart City by installing CCTV Cameras but if the roads will remain in the condition many are till now then instead of turning into a Smart City, Jalandhar will be known as a city full of potholes. The problem will only be solved when the corporation forms a proper plan to get the roads renovated which have already been dug out and then start deconstructing the others to lay wires.
Speaking on the issue MLA from BJP said, “it has almost been 5 years that the corporation has carried out its duties responsibly. It has not been able to make roads that have already been broken and are now ready to dig the new ones.”
