With a view to stemming the virus spread, the Lockdown Restrictions in Jalandhar District have been extended for a period of one week. As per new directions, now current curbs would remain in effect till May, 21, 2021.
Divulging the details, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said that the decision has been taken after a detailed discussion on the current situation in the district with Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Sunday during a virtual review meeting.
The DC added that the district administration has imposed various curbs with respect to movement of people and operation of essential and non-essential shops on May 7, 2021 which have been extended for a period of seven days more.

Mr. Thori added that the administration apprised the Chief Minister of the latest Covid-19 situation in Jalandhar besides steps being taken by the local authorities. He said that after due deliberations, it was decided that the lockdown restrictions should remain in force for one week more.
He said that the administration would ensure proper enforcement of lockdown restrictions in letter and spirit. He said that people can contact helpline number 0181-2224417 for any kind of assistance from administration.
