A man from Jalandhar, who resided in the USA’s Texas, has
shot himself dead on Sunday night due to domestic violence issues.
The deceased, who has been identified as Damanveer, was the only son of his parents, who are natives of Punjab. It has been learnt from the family, the deceased had fallen prey to depression after he had some consistent verbal spats with his wife Ratanpreet.
The couple had already decided to split to get rid of the regular domestic feuds. They have had even sent the divorce along with the property division papers to one another however, being sick of the matter Jalandhar youth chose to die by suicide.
According to the family members of the deceased, his wife is responsible for the death of their only son. The family has even sought the intervention of the US police into the matter so the accused could be identified and punished.
Purshotam Dhillon (father of deceased), a resident of Manko village of Jalandhar’s Adampur, Jalandhar, asserted that his son Daman had gone to Australia in 2006 for higher education. From there he went to see his relatives in the USA and there he met Ratanpreet.

Daman and Ratan got married on 16 February 2016 and the couple was later blessed with a baby girl (5). However, the couple was never happy with their relationship and the continuous petty fights turned drastic with Daman’s death.
Harjinder Singh, the maternal uncle of Damanveer, who lives in Stockton (California), America, told a vernacular Hindi paper that Damanveer and Ratnapreet had gone to India to attend a wedding in 2016. There a dispute erupted between the two which was later resolved with the police’s intervention.
Even after moving back to America, they used to fight over petty things and due to persistent yet growing discord, they both decided to part their ways. They sent each other divorce papers and the property share papers. But, Daman could not bear the jolt and went into depression which might have pushed him to take the extreme step.
