A case of sacrilege has surfaced at Gurdwara Singh Sabha of Atti village near Goraya, in the Jalandhar district of Punjab. A young man from Nepal has been arrested and is currently being interrogated. Giving information in this regard, Bhai Gobind Singh, Head Granthi of the Gurdwara Sahib, said that as per routine, he was doing Nitnem (morning prayers) at Gurudwara Sahib at around 5:30 in the morning when a man was seen in the camera walking outside the Gurdwara Sahib. He then entered the Gurdwara Sahib bare-headed and started hitting the Nishan Sahib with the wiper lying next to it, He was also found to be carrying cigarettes and tobacco in his pocket after breaking the lock on the main gate.
Following this, he went outside while scattering the carpets and sheets spread inside the Gurdwara Sahib. After praying the Gurudwara sewadars came out to catch that person with the help of the Sangat. However, he managed to escape.
The information of the incident was given to the police SHO Sukhdev Singh reached the spot with his police team and the accused was arrested from the village. In this regard, the Sarpanch of the village Sohan Lal said that the government should take strict action against the incidents happening at the religious places.
On this occasion, SHO Sukhdev Singh said that the police have registered a case against the person under section 298 on the complaint of Granthi Gobind Singh and the committee members of Gurdwara Sahib. The person has been identified as Ganesh Kharga, son of Kesh Bahadur, resident of Nepal, who works in Ludhiana. The SHO says that the accused will be promptly presented in the honorable court and is currently being interrogated.
