Crackdown on Noise Pollution; No more honking in Jalandhar residential areas between 10 pm to 6 pm

As per the direction issued by Jalandhar Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma, no person will be able to play drums or horns, any sound-producing device or sound amplifier between 10 pm and 6 am, including in marriage palaces, bars, and hotels.

Jalandhar Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma, exercising the powers conferred under Section 163 of the 'Indian Civil Security Code, 2023', has imposed a ban on blowing horns in residential areas from 10 pm to 6 am for the prevention of noise pollution. Similarly, orders have been issued to keep the sound of loudspeakers at 7.5 dB (A) and noise-producing devices within the prescribed limit. Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma issued orders and guidelines regarding noise pollution, Citing the orders of the Supreme Court of India, the Police Commissioner has issued orders that the sound of firecrackers and loudspeakers, etc near the limits of public places, should not exceed the limit of 10 dB (A) or 7.5 dB (A) depending on the area or whichever is less.

According to the order issued by Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma, no person will be able to play drums or horns, any sound-producing device or sound amplifier between 10 pm and 6 am, and this order will also be applicable in marriage palaces, bars, and hotels. These orders are passed to prevent noise pollution and its ill effects.

Similarly, those people with private sound systems will also have to follow the limitations. They can not keep the sound level from their private sound systems more than 5 dB (A) and if anyone is found violating these orders, then the sound system and other items will be confiscated by the police. Also, the sound of music from a vehicle with a music system should be only on the premises inside the car. The sound should not come out of the vehicle on the roads.
