Jalandhar police crack high-profile robbery case; three arrested with Rs 13.5 Lakh & 28,500 Thai currency

Police recovered Rs 13.5 lakh cash, 28,500 Thai Baht, Cleaver and rod used in the attack and Motorcycle used in the robbery, Mr Swapan Sharma said that further investigation into the case is going on and details if any will be shared later.

Exhibiting unwavering commitment to curb crime in city, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police led by Commissioner of Police Mr Swapan Sharma has cracked high profile robbery case of city by arresting three accused with Rs. 13.5 lakh and 28,500 Thai Baht. 

Giving details, the Commissioner of Police said that on February 5, 2025, FIR No. 23 u/s 309(6) BNS was registered based on the statement of Manoj Jain, s/o Puran Chand Jain, resident of H.No. 265, Mota Nagar, Jalandhar.

In his complaint, Manoj Jain had said that he was engaged in business with Western Union and MoneyGram adding that at around 06:00 PM on February 5, 2025, he was on his way home on his Activa scooter when, near the Green Park area when he was ambushed by three men on a motorcycle. 

He said that the attackers violently struck him with a cleaver and rod, inflicting serious injuries, before robbing Rs. 13.6 lakh in cash along with 28,500 Thai Baht in foreign currency, and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

The Commissioner of Police said that acting swiftly the Police through human intelligence and scientific evidence identified robbers as Gurbhahar Singh s/o  Dalwinder Singh, a resident of Village Kot Kallan, PS cantt, Jalandhar, Harpreet Singh s/o Lakhwir Singh, a resident of Village Beseysarpur , Jalandhar and Harash Verma s/o Surinder r/o Kang Sahibu , Jalandhar.

He said that the Police had recovered Rs. 13.5 lakh cash, 28,500 Thai Baht, Cleaver and rod used in the attack and Motorcycle used in the robbery. Mr Swapan Sharma said that further investigation into the case is going on and details if any will be shared later.
