A special drive was supervised by ACP Central and ACP Model Town Jalandhar respectively on16th and 18th November, from 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM, in the areas of Police Station Division No. 4 and Division No. 7, Jalandhar. The operation was carried out by the SHOs of Police Station Division No. 4 and Division No. 7 with the support from Traffic/ERS and FMT (Field Media Team).
The aim of the drive was to prevent the sale and consumption of liquor inside vehicles ensuring public safety and maintaining law and order in the vicinity of these establishments. A total of 185 vehicles were checked during the drive. Breath analysers were used by the ERS team to detect alcohol consumption in suspected cases.
A total of 47 challans were issued by Jalandhar police during this special drive including 11 challans for drinking and driving, 8 challans for two-wheelers without proper number plates, 12 challans for not wearing helmets, 7 challans for triple riding, 3 challans for black film and 6 vehicles were impounded for lack of documentation.
This special drive is part of Commissionerate Police Jalandhar’s ongoing efforts to enhance public safety and deter illegal activities around liquor shops.
