The Enforcement Directorate (ED) of Jalandhar unit raided 5 business and residential locations in Ludhiana and Chandigarh. According to the information, the raids were conducted on Red Leaf Immigration Private Limited, Overseas Partner Education Consultants, Infowiz Software Solution, and other institutions. This action was taken by the ED under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). This step was taken as part of the investigation of fraud related to immigration services. In their raid, the ED found and seized Rs 19 lakh cash and several objectionable documents.
As per reports, ED started this investigation on the basis of FIRs registered by the Punjab Police and Delhi Police. The FIRs were registered on the complaint of the Overseas Criminal Investigations Office of the US Embassy, New Delhi. The investigation revealed that the accused companies and people used to prepare fake education certificates and experience letters for ineligible candidates applying for study and work visas. An attempt was made to get the visa application approved by showing a fake bank balance. In return, these accused used to charge huge amounts.
According to the information received, money was also transferred fraudulently to show a minimum bank balance in the visa application. In return, these accused used to charge huge amounts. The Proceeds of Crime (POC) collected in this way was diverted to bank accounts, and movable and immovable properties were also purchased from it.
