Work of four projects of Smart City, KP Stadium, Command and Control Project (ICCC), CNDS Plant and Smart Road is almost completed. The process of handover of these projects will start after the election results (June 4). However, the biomining project worth Rs 37.61 crore and Burlton Park Sports Hub project worth Rs 77.77 crore are pending and awaiting approval from a meeting of the Jalandhar Smart City Board of Directors (BOD). However, the BOD meeting is expected to be held after Lok Sabha election results and the projects will begin after the green signal is given.
The deadline for the smart city project lies in June. In such a situation, there is doubt over the inclusion of these two projects in Smart City Mission-2, because the projects also depend on the formation of the new government.
Therefore, even the corporation officials are showing little interest in it. Under Smart City Project, projects worth Rs 930 crore including LED lights, KP Stadium, Surface Water Project, Kala Sandhian Drain, Command and Control projects, Smart roads etc. were approved. Under the project, the document verification of the biomining company has been completed. Now it is awaiting the approval of State Level Technical Committee and BOD.
Whereas, the work of Burlton Park Sports Hub is yet to be approved by a BOD meeting. However, the construction work of the Sports Hub has been stopped for almost one and a half year.
The BOD meeting could not be held due to Lok Sabha elections. It is being estimated that BOD meeting will be held after June 4.
At the same time, 95% work of the Command and Control Project (Traffic) has been completed. Testing for issuing e-challans on vehicles is also being done. CNDS plant has also received approval from the Pollution Control Board. Similarly, the work of KP Stadium is also almost complete along with 95% of the smart road work worth Rs 50 crore.
The installation of LED lights and cables is still pending. Due to shut down of works over the scorching heat, the wiring work could not be completed, which was expected to be complete by September.
Roads will be built with a Rs 35 crores budget approved from Chandigarh, but approval is pending from BOD.
Projects will be promoted through signage boards
Signage board of smart city project will also be installed. The Ministry of Urban Development has issued a letter that the Smart City Signage boards of all projects should also be installed. For this tender, process of labeling off project of Rs 50 lakh has been started, which will be finalized after June 4. Signage project cost, schedule, and the name of the agency will also be written across the board.
