Aam Aadmi Party MP Sushil Kumar Rinku from Jalandhar, Punjab is going to be the candidate for Lok Sabha elections in 2024. An important meeting is going on today at Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal's house regarding the 13 Lok Sabha seats. For these, Rinku has been asked to prepare for contesting. Sources in AAP say that his name was approved in the meeting.
Various senior leaders including Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann, AAP leader Raghav Chadha were also present in the meeting. This decision was taken during this period. Soon the party high command will issue a notification regarding Rinku’s approval. At present, no decision has been taken in the meeting regarding alliance with Congress.
The current MP of Jalandhar Sushil Kumar Rinku was earlier in the Congress party. He used to contest legislative elections from Jalandhar West constituency on behalf of Congress. He was defeated by AAP's MLA Sheetal Angural. During this period, when former Jalandhar MP Santokh Singh Chaudhary passed away, Rinku left Congress and joined AAP. He was given the ticket by AAP following which he won the MP election. He defeated Congress candidate Karmjeet Kaur Chaudhary by 58,691 votes.
