In another major jolt to the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), ex-councillor Viresh Mintu (ward no. 40) has jumped ship and joined the Aam Aadmi Party. The people on ground-zero from across Jalandhar joining AAP is a testament to Aam Aadmi Party's success in the bye-polls.
This is the second major blow to the saffron party as earlier, BJP leader and former MP candidate Subhash Goria had also switched allegiances and joined the AAP.
AAP continues to garner support from all corners however as before Goria, Congress’ councilor Tarsem Lakhotra and former councilor's son Anmol Grover also joined Aam Aadmi Party along with their colleagues. Due to this, both Congress and BJP have suffered major setbacks in the Jalandhar West bye-polls on July 10. All the leaders were inducted into the party in the presence of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwan Singh Mann at his residence in Deep Nagar, Jalandhar, Punjab today.
