Jammu and Kashmir, the eagerly awaited Vande Bharat Express train connecting Jammu and Srinagar is poised to redefine travel in the region. As part of the landmark USBRL (Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link) project, Srinagar is now connected to Jammu, Delhi, and other major cities across India. The transportation network links the Kashmir Valley to the rest of the country seamlessly.
The Jammu-Srinagar vande Bharat Express is expected to cover the 272 km stretch between the two cities in just 3 hours and 10 minutes, a substantial improvement over the current travel options, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently unveiled the train’s first look on X (formerly Twitter), sparking excitement among commuters and industry expert alike.
This high-speed train has been specially engineered for all the challenging conditions of Kashmir. Advanced features such as silicon heating pads and heated pipelines have been integrated to prevent water from freezing, even in sub-zero temperatures. The driver’s cabin boasts a triple-layered air windshield and heated filaments to counter snow accumulation, ensuring seamless operations during harsh winters.
Passengers onboard will enjoy an unmatched travel experience with heated washrooms and windows, designed to maintain comfort even in temperatures as low as -30 degrees Celsius.
