With the departure of an eventful year for the film industry, we enter 2023 with full enthusiasm in regard to top entertainers online for the release.
With the big guns like SRK in Pathaan and Prabhas in Adipurush whose movie will hit the theaters later this month, there are a set of other movies that will take on OTT as well. Platforms like Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, Zee5, Disney+ Hostar, and others have braced up to bring to you some great shows and movies.
But before that let us have a look at how things seem on OTT with the new releases lined up ahead in January 2023’s first week (1-7 Jan).
Here are 5 movies and web series releasing in the first week of January on OTT:
1. Kaleidoscope:
The show, created by Eric Garcia, follows ‘the largest heist ever attempted’, and the betrayals involved in it. The web series stars Paz Vega, Rosaline Elby, Giancarlo Esposito, and others. The show is written in a non-linear format and has released on Netflix on January 1.
2. Fantasy Island (Season 2):
This show revolves around the idea and people entering the magical world of ‘Fantasy Island’ with their set of desires. This series stars, Roselyn Sanchez, Kiara Barnes, John Gabriel Rodriquez Lindsey Kraft, and others in key roles. The incredible series’ season 2 is streaming from January 2nd on Sony LIV.
3. The Lying Life of Adults:
Showcasing the lives of the girls in a divided Naples in this Italian show, where the Naples assumes the mask of refinement, whereas the Naples of the depths is enabled to excess and is laden with vulgarity. This show stars the likes of Guiseppe Brunetti, Valeria Golino, and Luigi Chiocca, which will release on Netflix on January 4.
4. Uunchai:
A star-studded cast directed by Sooraj R Barjatya, Uunchai remained immensely great in the theatrical run and is set to entertain on OTT showcasing the journey full of adventure around, Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher, and Boman Irani. This film will release on Zee5 on the 6th of January.
5. Taaza Khabar:
Bhuvan Bam’s much-awaited show ‘Taaza Khabar’ is close to its release date which finally releases this week that hovers around the life of a sanitation worker, who stumbles upon magical powers that change his life. With a great touch of Bhuvan’s comedy, this series also has a touch of action. The series will star the likes of Shriya Pilgaonkar, Shilpa Shukla, J.D. Chakravarti, and others. ‘Taaza Khabar’ will release on Disney+ Hotstar on January 6.
6. Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 2
The animated action thriller is based on the journey of Clone Force 99, a group of elite clone troopers. After the fall of the Republic, the clones continue their journey. As they navigate the Empire, they cross paths with new and familiar friends and foes, in the upcoming season 2. Dee Bradley Baker and Cameron Hales lead the cast in Dave Filoni’s directorial which is releasing on January 4th on Disney Plus Hotstar.
