Ankurjeet, who hails from Yamunanagar, Haryana, did not lose his sight at birth. It was only after joining school that he began facing difficulties in seeing the blackboard. Ankurjeet’s early education took place in a government school in his village. Despite significant obstacles, he excelled academically, thanks to his perseverance and teacher support. During his school years, he was first introduced to competitive exams like the IIT-JEE and UPSC. Encouraged by a teacher, Ankurjeet attempted and successfully cleared the JEE exam, earning a seat at IIT. This achievement made him realize that he could overcome any challenge with hard work.

A New Dream: IAS

During his time at IIT, Ankurjeet became inspired to pursue civil services. His mother, who worked in the Haryana government, further motivated him after meeting IAS officers in her department. With the support of his friends, Ankurjeet began preparing for the UPSC exam, using technology like screen readers to assist in his studies. Despite the challenges, he remained focused on his goal.

Success Through Perseverance

Ankurjeet’s journey to becoming an IAS officer was not easy. He appeared for the UPSC exam multiple times, finally achieving success in his second attempt in 2017, securing the 414th rank. His friends were his constant companions, providing both emotional and practical support. When the results were announced, it was his friend who first informed him of his success. His family was elated by the news, especially his mother, who had been a driving force behind his ambitions.

Ankurjeet Singh’s story is one of hope and determination. His ability to rise above his disability and achieve success in one of India’s toughest exams is truly inspiring.
