In the presence of thousands of farmers, Kisan Mahapanchayat organised in Jind district of Haryana on Wednesday unanimously adopted a resolution to scrap the three contentious farm laws.
BKU leader Rakesh Tikait who was present at the mahapanchayat announced that "if their demands were not accepted, they will hold another 'mahapanchayat' of India level".
Tikait reached Kandela village today to address the 'mahapanchayat' to gain support and increase momentum for the farmers’ protest. Tikait was accompanied by state Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) President Gurnam Singh Chaduni.
Kandela 'khap' President Tek Ram, the organiser of the 'mahapanchayat', said that besides a complete repealing of the agriculture laws, the resolution also demands an assurance that the farmers will get MSP (minimum support price) for their crops and withdrawal of cases against farmers who have been arrested for violence on Republic Day in Delhi.
Tek Ram said representatives of at least 50 'khaps' or community courts from across Haryana participated in the 'mahapanchayat'.
Another mahapanchayat was held in Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday.
Tikait addressing the mahapanchayat gathering said, "If the farmers' demands are not accepted by the Centre, they would hold 'mahapanchayat' at the national level."
Tikait indicating the tightened security at the borders said that when the ruler is afraid, he uses fortification. He indicated that a campaign will be carried out from village to village in Haryana till February 10 to gather momentum against the protest. Tikait before attending the mahapanchayat had said that pan India tractor really will be held if the Centre doesn’t listen to them.

Tikait added that the year 2021 is the year of the youth revolution and asked the Centre over the demand of repeal of the farm laws, "What will you do if the youth asks you to return your seat [removes you from power]?"
Notably, Kandela, the venue of the 'mahapanchayat', earlier has been a centre of farmers agitation. In 2002, farmers had launched a protest from Kandela demanding waiver of electricity dues.
