Sanjay Gupta has already directed two films – SHOOTOUT AT LOKHANDWALA in 2007 and SHOOTOUT AT WADALA in 2013. Now he’s back with another blockbuster MUMBAI SAGA. Its main star cast is Emraan Hashmi and John Abraham. This film brings excitement not only for the viewers but also for exhibitors. Let's have a review of this film.

The story is based on the life of a gangster and his rivalry with cops. The story is of the mid-80s when Amartya Rao (John Abraham) lives with his family and sells vegetables. One day, his brother Arjun argues with one of the goons who then throws Arjun off from a bridge but Amartya saves his brother before he gets crushed under the train. Amartya decided to part his ways from a gangster. But he single-handedly assaults Gaitonde’s men. In the meantime, Gaitonde, who operates from the jail, realizes that Amartya is too dangerous. Bhau (Mahesh Manjrekar), the unofficial king of Mumbai released Amartya from jail. Bhau and Amartya defeat Gaitonde. The story then moves 12 years ahead. Later, Gaitonde again tries to kill Arjun in Mumbai. Arjun escapes unhurt. Sonali (Anjana Sukhani), wife of Sunil Khaitan offers a reward of Rs. 10 crores to Vijay Savarkar (Emraan Hashmi) to kill Amartya. The rest shapes the film.

The film is inspired by true events and moves at a supersonic speed. The characters of Amartya and Savarkar especially are strong and are well full-clad.

John Abraham is in top form. He looks every inch a dreaded gangster and he's fantastic within the action scenes. Emraan Hashmi features a late entry which might make his fans unhappy. But the instant he enters the narrative, he's rocking.

Thankfully, there are only 2 songs within the film. 'Danka Baja' is foot tapping. 'Shor Machega' is well shot but seems out of an area during a period film.

On the entire, MUMBAI SAGA may be a film that deserves to be experienced on the large screen. It is full of messy moments and clap-worthy dialogues.

Overall, IMDB rated this movie 7.5 out of 10.
