The grandest wedding of the decade is about to begin and as you would expect from one of the richest families in Asia, their is no expense spared in grandeur and extravagance. The union of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant has been graced with the presence of some of the most renowned personalties in the world. However, what’s baffling is the amount of international starpower at the wedding of the century.
The most pinch yourself moment was the arrival of 16-time WWE world champion John Cena. Cena’s entrance was greeted with much enthusiasm by the fans and the paps alike. He arrived at the scene in a casual t-shirt and shorts combination. Hilarity ensued as the “desi” paps called the wrestler-turned-actor names like “John babu” and “John Kaka”.
Along with Cena, the Kardashian sisters, Kim and Khloe, were also one of the main attractions. Kim wore a figure-hugging dress, with her hair up in a bun, while Khloe opted for a casual white tee-shirt and jeans, leaving her hair loose. The duo also embraced the “Indian style” as they posted pictures of themselves in an Auto-rickshaw online. Also, actress Priyanka Chopra also reached the venue with our ‘Pardesi Jija ji’ Nick Jonas at the red carpet.
Apart from John, Kim, Khloe, Priyanka and Nick, Anant and Radhika’s wedding will see a plethora of international guests, from the political, business and entertainment cirles. Futurist Peter Diamandis, artist Jeff Koons, self-help coach Jay Shetty, former UK PMs Boris Johnson and Tony Blair, former US secretary of state John Kerry, former Swedish PM Carl Bildt, and former Canadian PM Stephen Harper and several other celebrities, politicians and industrialists are all expected to grace the union with their presence.
After having been dazzled with performances from Rihanna, Katy Perry and Justin Bieber in the pre-wedding festivities, performances are also expected from Adele, Drake and Lana Del Rey.
The Ambani-Merchant wedding will take place over 3 days. While sticking to traditional Hindu Vedic customs, the main ceremonies will commence on Friday, July 12, with the auspicious Shubh Vivah, or wedding function. The celebrations will continue on Saturday, July 13, with Shubh Aashirwad. The final event, Mangal Utsav or the wedding reception, is scheduled for Sunday, July 14.
