'Join or get suspended': Punjab CM Mann's ultimatum to officers on mass leave

Punjab’s various department which includes PCS Officers Association has gone on strike and mass leave over the arrest of RTA Dhaliwal by the Vigilance Bureau. The PCS Association also had a meeting with Punjab CM Mann in this regard.

Post the meeting, Bhagwant Mann called for various documents related to the case and has now issued a letter to all the departments. He, through his Twitter handle released a letter stating that some of the officers are not present at their duty in the name of a strike and this will not be tolerated under his government. He added that this strike is going on against the department’s action against corrupt officers. He stated that their government has a zero-tolerance policy against corruption and such strikes are an obstacle in this working which is not tolerable.

He directed that all the strikes going on have been declared illegal. Also stated if the officers do not join their duty by 2 pm today then they will be suspended. He also stated that if the duty is not joined by all officers then it will be taken that they are absent legally. He also added, “no one will be spared in the case of corruption, be it a minister, a sentry or any of my relatives...every penny of the public will be accounted for.”

Earlier, the PCS Officers Association released a press statement in which they stated that the arrest of RTA Dhaliwal was unfortunate and not as per the law or guidelines of the PCS Association.
