53 journalists in Mumbai, 7 journalists in Jalandhar, 2 journalists in Himachal Pradesh quarantined after being tested positive for COVID-19

In a major concern for India, 53 journalists of Mumbai tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday. As per Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation at least 53 journalists in Mumbai tested positive for COVID-19.  During a special camp organized at the Azad Maidan on April 16 and 17 for COVID-19 testing of scribes, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) collected swab samples of 171 media persons, including electronic and print media journalists, photographers and cameramen.

"Out of the 171 media persons, 53 tested positive for coronavirus," BMC spokesperson Vijay Khabale said, adding that most of those who tested positive are asymptomatic at present. All the media persons found infected with coronavirus will be kept in isolation and a process was underway to find out suitable places to the purpose, he said.

On Monday, three female journalists from a media organization 'Punjab Keshari' were tested positive. As per reports, there are 7 journalists from the organization have been tested positive and reports of many journalists are yet to come.

A few days back, two other journalists from the same organization were in news of illegally crossing the Himachal Pradesh border to hide coronavirus. However they were caught by the police and when tested their reports came positive.
