Joy is a British biographical drama film. It is directed by Ben Taylor. It is produced by Wildgaze and Pathe. It is all set to start streaming on 22nd November on Netflix. She is a 46-year-old English woman who was the first human to have been born after conception by in vitro fertilisation experiment (IVF). Her birth is considered as “the most remarkable medical breakthroughs of the 20th Century”.
She was born at Oldham General Hospital in Lancashire. Her delivery was done by planned Caesarean section which was performed by registrar John Webster. She weighed 2.608 kg at birth. She was born to Lesley and John Brown, a couple who had been trying to conceive naturally for 9 years. Her mother Lesley had the complications of blocked fallopian tubes. On 10th November 1977, her mother, Lesley Brown went through a procedure known as in vitro fertilisation (IVF), that was developed by Patrick Steptoe, Robert Edwards, and Jean Purdy.
