Haryana’s Nuh district is going
through the tense situation since May 16 after a 27-year-old gym instructor’s
body was found hours after his abduction allegedly by the people of his own
village. A day after his death, #JusticeforAsif trend on Twitter as people term
it is Hindu-Muslim lynching.
Owing to the circumstances, the Police had to resort to baton charge agitated mob and open fire rounds to disperse the crowd at the site of protests in the District. Also, those who attended the victim’s funeral on May 17 pelted stones at the police.
The victim has been identified as Asif Hussain, a resident of Kheda Khalilpur in Nuh. He was abducted by some unidentified men while he was out with his cousins to buy some medicines. As per the reports, Asif and his cousins were initially chased by 12 men and it ended up beating them. The miscreant group took Asif away while leaving his cousins at the previous spot.
According to the complainants, the attackers shot Hussain and used other weapons on him too. However, hours after the incident his body was recovered.
Clearing the air on
Hindu-Muslim lynching, Nuh Superintendent of Police Narendra Singh said there
was no "Hindu-Muslim angle" to the incident. Reportedly, the group
had an ongoing feud which was often resolved by the seniors of the village.

It may be noted here that the police have arrested the key accused who is a resident of Asif’s village along with some others while a few of them are absconding.
“Both the groups face cases under sections of the Arms Act and for assault. Six
accused have been arrested. An SIT has been constituted which is probing the
case,” Singh said.
Earlier today, an autopsy of Asif’s body was conducted. The police have also detained as many as 10 persons who allegedly pelted stones at the police during the funeral.
According to a Local Congress MLA Aftab Ahmed, the accused were persons of a "crooked nature". He has also sought justice for Atif’s death.
Meanwhile, the agitated mob had blocked the Kundali - Manesar - Palwal Expressway late last night over the killing. To disperse the crowd from the spots the police had to resort to baton charge. During the protests, the mob shattered the windshield of vehicles too.
SP Singh has also appealed to the protesters to be patient and assured that the police was with the victim's family. All efforts will be made to conduct the trial in a fast-track court.
