Kalyan Singh (Babu ji) is no more. He breathed his last at SGPGI at the age of 89. Former UP CM and Governor Kalyan Singh was hospitalized for 48 days. He was constantly put on a ventilator for 7 days. On June 21, he was admitted to Lucknow's Lohia Hospital due to difficulty in breathing. After this, he was shifted to PGI on July 4 due to no improvement in health. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have condoled the death of Kalyan Singh.

Kalyan Singh was the first CM of BJP in UP. After becoming CM for the first time, he had taken an oath to build Ram temple by going directly to Ayodhya with the cabinet. Kalyan Singh was the Chief Minister of UP during the demolition of the Babri structure in Ayodhya on 6 December 1992. He did not allow firing on devotees.

 

Know the political life journey of Kalyan Singh:

Born on 5 January 1932 in the village of Madhauli, Aligarh

Kalyan Singh was born on 5 January 1932 in Madhauli village of Atrauli tehsil of Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. Kalyan Singh, who was one of the uppermost leaders of BJP, was also the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and the Governor of Rajasthan.

Became the first Chief Minister of BJP in UP

Kalyan Singh was the Chief Minister of UP for 2 times. He was also the first CM of BJP in UP. He was Chief Minister in the first term from 24 June 1991 to 6 December 1992 and for the second time from 21 September 1997 to 12 November 1999. BJP put forward Kalyan Singh to counter Mulayam Singh Yadav in UP. Kalyan Singh was the second leader in the BJP after Atal Bihari Vajpayee, whose speeches were most eager to hear the public.

After becoming the Chief Minister, took oath to build Ram temple in Ayodhya.

Within a year, Kalyan Singh brought the BJP to the point that the party formed the government on its own in 1991 in UP. After this Kalyan Singh became the first CM of BJP in UP.According to the charge sheet filed in the CBI, soon after becoming the chief minister, Kalyan Singh along with his associates visited Ayodhya and took oath to build the Ram temple.

 

 No order was given to shoot kar sevaks (religious volunteers)

Kalyan Singh was the Chief Minister of UP during the demolition of Babri structure in Ayodhya on 6 December 1992. He did not allow firing on kar sevaks. Kalyan submitted his resignation after the structure was demolished.

However, Kalyan Singh had given an affidavit in the Supreme Court that as the CM of UP, he would not allow any damage to the mosque.

 

Kalyan took moral responsibility for the demolition of Babri Masjid

Kalyan Singh was publicly held responsible for the demolition of the Babri Masjid. Taking moral responsibility for this, Kalyan Singh resigned from the post of CM on 6 December 1992 itself. But on the second day the central government dismissed the BJP government of UP.

Kalyan Singh had said at that time that this government was formed in the name of Ram temple and its purpose was fulfilled. In such a situation, the government was sacrificed in the name of Ram temple. Kalyan Singh was sentenced to one day for the demolition of the Babri Masjid in Ayodhya and not protecting it.

 

The Liberhan Commission criticized Kalyan Singh

The Liberhan Commission was formed to investigate the Babri Masjid demolition. Clean chit to then Prime Minister VP Narasimha Rao, but criticized Kalyan and his government.

 

The CBI had also registered a case against many leaders including Kalyan Singh. But later acquitted.
