"As an artist, I've won a number of accolades, honours, affection, and recognition. But, for the first time, I've been recognised by the Indian government for being a devoted citizen, and I'm grateful. I began my work at an early age and only achieved success after 8-10 years.
Instead of basking in my accomplishment, I began to focus on issues such as refusing to advertise fairness goods, doing item numbers, and acting in films produced by major studios with major male stars. In the video, the actor says, "I ended up earning more enemies than money.”

Pandit Chhannulal Mishra, a Hindustani classical singer, was awarded the Padma Vibhushan. Karan Johar, a filmmaker and producer, and late musician SP Balasubramaniam will also be honoured later in the day.
Kangana Ranaut, who recently won the National Award for Best Actress for Manikarnika and Panga, had earlier thanks for receiving the Padma Shri. "I started my career from a little hamlet in Himachal Pradesh, and to be in the same league as these bigwigs we've grown up watching, whether it's Karan Johar's films or Ekta Kapoor's serials...," she explained. Growing up, we knew these people. Who hasn't heard about Adnan Sami ji's music? It's a source of pride for a female like myself to be awarded a Padma Shri among them."
Kangana's Padma Shri follows the release of her announcement that she will begin production on Tiku Weds Sheru, which will be produced under her Manikarnika Films company.
